Using cake decoration to display a Nabokov quote, "The more you love a memory, the stronger and stranger it is." to demonstrate the role birthday cakes have played in the recollection of my past.

As part of my 'Transition' project, I began analysing the transitional stages of myself. Birthday photos were significant in the documentation of this. Exploring the influence of photographs on the creation of memories, led me to discover a vivid memory of mine was infact false. I decided to rectify this by re-creating the memory and documenting with photography.

Trawling through old family photos, I was struck by the similarities between my mum's photos from 30 years ago, and my photos from the past couple of years.
