Daisy, Daisy...

Kirsty and I were delighted to hear from Joanna again last week, as she wanted us to brighten up her window display a bit, in the anticipation for some sunshine, and eventually, Summer! We were really inspired by the idea of framing the mannequin to draw attention to the garments, (below, left) and also introducing some colour on the mannequins themselves, with a fake grass or astroturf, (below, right).

However, we did come across a few problems with astroturf mannequins, so we decided to just stick with keeping it on the floor! Our final design looked a little like this...

We still wanted to create some kind of frame around the window to really highlight the clothes, and so passers-by could peek through. We decided to use chalk pens to draw hundreds of daisies all over the window, which we knew would be time consuming, but well worth it!

And we couldn't have been more pleased with the result! And neither could Joanna for that matter! The window lights up beautifully in the sunshine, and brightens up the day even when it's dull and rainy. We got several smiles from passers-by as we were drawing all the flowers, so hopefully we have brought a little to cheer to Eastcastle Street!

And we added some cheeky daisy chains inside the shop too!

Puffin Book Cover-Quilling

After experimenting with paper manipulation I was really inspired by Yulia Brodskaya http://www.artyulia.com/  an artist who uses the traditional craft technique of 'quilling' in such an incredible way, I had to give it a go myself.
